Locomotives were not always the only things to undergo maintenance or repair on the night shift!!

The shift I was a member of could repair anything.The good old days when the railway was run by true railway men not accountants like these days
I remember one of the branch guards parking his Austin Princess nose first in the pit (by accident of course) and having to have it lifted lifted out. And then someone giving him yhe bill as a wind up. It wouldn't have been you Mick.
