Unfortunately I have forgotten the names of the two men they are Fitters who I worked with on my apprenticeship. Second photo was taken with me on the footplate with the engine 11305 crew.

My Dad would still have been working then. he was a Goods Guard, name of Ernie Morris, based at Springs Branch.

My brother worked there in the late 1950s/sixties, Colin Griffiths. He used to take me up on the footplates.....health and safety would have had a field-day, but I never caught any harm!

Not 100% sure but I would suggest these pictures were taken at Horwich Works. 11305 was one of the works shunters based there until withdrawn in September 1964.

Stuart, you are correct, it is Horwich Loco I should have had that in earlier. 11305 was the first engine that I was shown how to drive. It is amazing the feeling of opening that steam valve and feeling the beast come to life, cylinder cocks open, brakes off, etc.
