There's not many in the premiership on £100,000 a week. Heskey at Wigan was on £30,000 a Week.

That numpty Benteke at Liverpool is on £130,000! And I thought owners of footy clubs were shrewd!!
I remember an old time footballer complaining that so and so was on more money than him. The manager replied that he was a better player.
Not in the summer, he isnt! he argued.

Yes remember the final at Wembley very well. The Scarborough goalkeeper was very tall and latics kept sending crosses which the goalie kept picking out the air as if picking cherries off a tree. If I remember correctly it was in the dying minutes of natural time when a latics player finally took a shot at goal straight across the grass and the ball went straight into the back of the net.
Reminded me of FA Cup 3rd round tie against Manchester City at Maine Road in January 1970 when big Joe Corrigan was in goal for City. Final score 1 0 to city after Corrigan took every ball out of the air and saved the day for city because Latics absolutely pulverised City that day in front of 47000 supporters Yes I know Latics got their own back at Wembley in 2013 in the final and I WAS THERE!!!

Ticsmon
You could be right!
I had the privelidge to meet Tom Finney in the 60s. At the time I worked for Tarmac Construction at Landgate and my firm would subcontract a certain T.Finney, plumbing contractors, for jobs in the north-west. What a great gentleman and footballer to boot!!

Met a Liverpool ex player a while ago. He told me when Shankley was manager in 1960 the entire weekly wage bill was £2,000 and that included office staff. How times have changed.

Laticus
At some Premier clubs, £2000 is the cost of a season ticket!
Thats why I stopped goin' yonks ago!
