I seem to know him from somewhere I wonder if he worked at Westwood for a time. I was a coal-man.

J Charles T Halsal+alot more I could name, We were at
Carrington Power Station 1960s there was a Queue 30+wagons
T Halsal went on the stocking ground to jump the Queue we
were stood near the hopper this little dog was barking like
mad on the stocking ground I said that is T Halsals dog their is something not right over there 4 drivers went over
the Wagon Was on its side with T Halsal underneath it the
slurry was all over him we dug the slurry off him and pulled
him out he went to hospital 2 days later he was back at work
that Dog saved his life that day he was a very lucky man

Hi Derrick. I remember that incident with Tommy Halsal the vehicle that tip over on him was a Bedford 6x2 Chinese Steer (Primrose conversion)XNB 551 it had a 20ton payload and it there was about 16ton of that slurry on top of him. HE did say it was the little dog that saved him that day, plus you lads and tommy managing to clear an air way for him to breath until you arrived. He was certainly blessed that day there was no doubt about that.
This did not stop him jumping queues though. Tommy it was said had nine lives the amount of scrapes he got in to. He told me of one when working for Taylors at Earlstown. A tipper he was working on krept down and pinned him between the cab & tipper body. He shouted to his work mate to help. (Forgot his name but Tommy said his was built like a brick Shit House.)He rushed over and lifted the body clear for Tommy to escape! Did you know Tommies nick name? LITTLE OMO.
