I remember working on this crane or one very similar when it was brought in for calibration/repairs at Horwich works.A recall a bell sounding to warn the operator it was at its at its safe working limits

No bell on this crane pw, we had a "Wheel Watcher".
Presumably that's the bloke you can see crouching down, peering at the rear wheels of the crane wagon in the pic taken from the other end.

I always wondered what that ringing was when I was driving I thought it was the big fish whistling
