Is this the bottom part of Worsley Hall Estate?
Is it not Sherwood Drive,Marsh Green.
It's close to junction of Sherwood Drive and Montrose Avenue. The Montrose pub in background.
I believe you are correct, John. In one Of the houses beyond the pub, lived a very amiable Wigan Borough police Sergeant. P.S. Margarrison, (I may not have spelt his name correctly). He was a supervisory officer for Pemberton sub division. The name of the road (Maddison Avenue) springs to mind, but I could be wrong.
That would be Matheson Drive I think Albert.
Thanks John. That's correct. You've shaken my memory. Sometimes, it sure needs to be shaken.
Did Jimmy have a son that worked at Plank lane
jimmy had a son dave who was a good friend of mine .i worked on buses when jimmy was on.he was one rum person.
That's my wifes grandad. He was a fantastic chap. Married to Irene. Had 3 sons, kevin, allan and david. Kevin is my father in law. He sadly passed away acouple of years ago.
Great to hear those comments about someone who is no longer with us and was probably "anonymous" to most people and yet left endearing memories to those who did come across him - quite a testimonial that anyone would be proud of.
worked many times with jimmy as his conductor on hindley route great bloke and good fun
There's more responsibility driving a bus than a HGV, even though bus drivers don't drive for miles.
He was my uncle.. i lived with him all my life
He lived in severn drive at norley and was well known in area
Garry, How do you know have you ever driven a HGV or a bus

Wiganer, I used to deliver coal to houses with a Bedford TK lorrie and driven a Bedford coach to Bolton Mills, and to Blackpool, that was the late 50s. By trade I'm a retired spark. So I do know what I'm talking about. I'm the one that can say "been there done that"
Garry, You are telling lies you only left school at 15 in
1970 so how could you be driving HGVs and buses you say you
was a SPARK but not a very BRIGHT spark get brain in gear
before opening mouth
C'mon lads. Don't taint this with cross words. This photo means a lot to the people that knew the gentleman. There are some very touching comments and I'm sure he is sorely missed by his friends and family.
Your right dosco, wiganer mistaken me for someone else. i served my time has a spark in 1970, but driving lorries and coaches well before that time, I've done a bit on the railways too.
I served my time has a painter years after i left school, could be 10-15 years later. But had other jobs before that.
