The annual march is to commemorate the Golborne Colliery disaster of the 18th March 1979.

This looks like this years march which took place on 16th March. These memorial marches have been held to mark the 10th, 20th,25th, 30th, and 35th, anniversaries of the explosion on 18th March 1979.
