A drawing of how the new printing and publishing works would look at Woods Street. The Wigan Observer being only the 3rd in the country to go web offset in January 1966.

Colin. Did you have a relation, Gordon Harlow? If so (you may be aware of it), there is a group photograph, sent in by Graham Worthington, Spring View School, 1946. Gordon is on it, back row 4th from the left. I know he worked in the newspaper printing industry, I believe it was for the nationals. We left school about the same time.

Yes Albert, my late uncle Gordon. He served his printers apprenticeship at the Wigan Observer in Rowbottom Square, later the Daily Express and Daily Star, then based in Manchester.

Thank you for your follow up, Colin. I had some idea that you were related, being of the same surname, and both being connected to the newspaper industry. I also wanted to bring to your attention the photograph, presumably, you were already aware. I should have said middle row, not back row.

Yes thankyou Albert, Gordon Harlow is indeed middle row 4th from the left. Also in the photo is my cousin Colin Green, front row 2nd left, Cheers.
