Lower Ince/ Spring View, near Wigan. If you were travelling from Wigan towards Platt Bridge, it is opposite Ince Cemetery, looking over the wall just past Varty's memorial stone premises. It looks different now.

baker boy is correct - it's beside the Old Hall/ Coaching Inn - we're looking west towards the main line.

I stand corrected, but the line on the other side of the road, which I know well, is very similar.

Irene,right of photo is Old Hall & Cemetery Lane .When I was a little Lad always told Liverpool was other side of the Hills on Left background of photo.Meant nought to me .Walked past that view 1,000s times also across road past Billy Varty's Down Steps side of Church cross Iron Bridge go to Trenchie. Happy Days.

Thankyou Jimmy. I lived in Higher Ince as a child but used to walk to Spring View with my Mam to visit relatives there, and I always liked those tall lamps shown on the photos. My brother worked at Springs Branch.

If I remember right line to right went under small bridge to Wagan works spent years playing there.also good for wood for making rafts for Trenchie and our Bonfire.Irene go on Places ( Ince page 11 ) good photo of Bridge near Trenchie Pitch.

About to be re-vitalised with the new Northern Trains depot. Good news for the area which is so important in history terms. Good luck to them I say.
