That's a cracker,Ron.I've never seen that one before.Any background to it? I'm just wondering why the police seem to be attacking the men on each side of the casualty being carried away?

I have left a comment on the following photograph of Abram Colliery. I would be appreciative of some ones conclusion.

Chris - although it looks as if the police are being heavy-handed, it's likely their intentions were good. The crowd, doubtless full of near-hysterical folks wanting to know what had happened to their father/ brother/ husband/ son, seemed to be pressing so hard around the pit shaft that a gangway needed to be forcibly cleared through them whenever a casualty was brought up.
