Doesn't look as if the livery had yet been fully completed. Can't see any reference to Wigan Corporation or the town's coat of arms.

Re my earlier comment. On reflection, I think this photograph might have been taken following the bus having a re-paint. The yellow Leyland truck to the left of the bus looks like the tilt cab model, which wasn't in production as early as the time when this bus would have been brand new. Also,in the foreground it appears that modifications are being made to the road layout which, again, I think puts it later than the early sixties.

If you look closely the maroon side panel is fitted with the small borough crest and the County Borough of Wigan lettering. The picture of the bus in Market Street shows this more clearly

I think this would be the early 70s.
