A loco that could run on diesel (600hp) or electric (3rd rail) i think that they where used down south, however Merseyrail had some for a few years, i,m sure someone will have better information on it, great pictures today Ron they really are great

These are very sought after by operators now. Still in use with GBrailfreight and Scotrail (re-engined). Great go anywhere locos. Went on a fairwell tour in the 90's from Waterloo to Southampton Docks 73118 in departmental rust livery did the job alone with 10 full carriages (should have been 2 x 73's). Bit presumptious to be a fairwell tour!
