I remember seeing that loco under construction at Crew Loco works in the 1970's
BR used to give guided tours around the factory and the last of the Class 87's were being built at the time I visited the factory in 1974

Remember these being brought in for when the electrification from Crewe to Carlisle was completed in 74 Though, we saw them a little earlier than that April!!! Think my first electric ride was late 73. How different when you only heard silence pulling out of NW
