I just love these old photos of steam trains and especially when there are the old buildings in the background, which have long since been demolished. Just wonderful!

The chimneys are Westwood power station, Eckersley Mill and I think Empress Mill is in the background..not too sure of the other to the far right.

More from this era Ron - the diesel & electric spam cans only disappeared a few years ago and nothing's changed in those photos since then. These older ones have great background detail too..

The chimney in the middle could well be CWS Platt-Bridge.
