Restored on three occasions: At least that is what my book says, original cab restored to replace more enclosed version seen in photos from NCB days.

You're right, SJB - it's been tarted up. Toytown engine for the toytown railway. I don't know why it couldn't have been preserved honestly in its working clothes.

Built, I seem to recall 1887. The major part of its working life would have been prior to the establishment of NCB, when company liveries were a significant element of the promotion of what, today, we would call brand identity: competing for attention in a competitive environment.
