Lesley died on Saturday 2nd of November 2013,She was 52.Herself and four other women, including Anne Scargill staged a protest down Parkside colliery in 1993 when the pit was threatened with closure, the protest lasted five days.
This photo along with others was taken just after the women emerged from the pit. Thanks for everything Lesley,RIP.
The working people of this country are slowly being turned into nothing more than unfettered slaves. We Badly need more people like Lesley who are prepared to stand up for what they believe is right.
There was an excellent play on Radio 4 on Monday 4th November at 2-15pm about this protest. Written by and starring Maxine Peake and dedicated to Lesley Lomas who had died at the weekend. Listen to it if you can on R.4 catch-up.God bless the women of the working class.
Seems we learned nothing from the excesses and depravities of the Thatcher years, we have another government that is hell bent on filling their pockets at the expense of the working classes.
the wves bore the brunt of the strike holding households & families together ,they were the real working class heroes
A gallant lady, as thay all were. Well done and God Bless.
RIP Lesley Lomas
A working class heroine is something to be.
