have you not turned your computer on yet cullie?
Knew Ernie very well. We lived in the same avenue, Winchester Grove, Lower Ince. I also knew Norman very well, plus his brother Clifford, we lived close by each other in Spring View, in the 1940s.
i was talking to norman the other day in town...note how there not leaning back on the class 40 thats because it bites gggggrrrrrrr beast from hell hear it growl
3rd from left looks like Roy Rimmer who owns the mabs cross.
Cullie, if you would be kind enough, please, next time you see Norman, pass on my regards to him, and ask him to give my regards to Clifford, as well. I do believe he also had a brother Roland, and a sister Doreen, but I am not certain, as they were of a younger age, if I am correct. Do you ever see Ernie? My best wishes to you as well. It would be in the 50s, the last time I saw Ernie.
Albert; Have a browse thro` photo`s in Album, Work, Railways. Ernie Philips is on 3rd from left on 3rd row on page 1. Comment states;-

earnie lives near me he's turned 80 now he allways has a tale to tell !!!
Thank you Ernest. He hasn't change much, since I knew him in the fifties. His parents lived across the road, from my parents, in Lower Ince. Josie may see my entry, and pass my good wishes on to him. Thank you once again.
Hi Albert I am Normans brother Roland sorry to tell you our Cliff died seven years ago, did you have a brother Harold he was in my class at spring view school
Hi Roland. Very sorry to learn of Clifford's passing. As a lad, he was always full of life. Yes I have a brother Harold. He, and his family, now live in North Yorkshire. I know the photograph of Norman was taken in the mid 1980s. He seemed the picture of health. He hadn't changed much since I knew him in the 1940s. Give him my best regards. I now live in Blackpool, my wife, and I, and have done so since I retired from the Kent Police, in 1988. I hope you, and your family are well. Best wishes. Albert.
That is definitely Roy Rimmer 2nd from right, I remember him being a bouncer at Chaplins.
Think you'll find it's definitely not!!
I'm related to Roy, and he did a stint on the railways when he left SGB scaffolding in little lane, and i would say that's him, if it's not it must his double....very spooky !!!
Could someone please give a very definite answer, to these differing opinions. Maybe Cullie can.
second from right is definitely Norman Harter
Bloody hell that brings back some memories!!!! I wish I was that slim now!!! Second from right definitely Norman Harter. Happy days - cheers Tommy!
Just mentioned the photo to my father Ernest Phillips he remembers going round your house to watch TV before they got one themselves. He is still active getting to places about 5 times a week.
The people on the photo are just like the title says, I worked with them all...Ernie Phillips, Andy Winstanley, Norman Harter and David Maxwell!
Sorry about last comment. I should have mentioned it was Albert.
Only just read your comment Brian. I have no recollection of the t.v. episode, it is such a long time ago, but your dad, and I had many a chat, when we both worked down the pit, but not the same pit. He was always smiling, and cheerful. I believe he is a bit older than me. Your grandparents' were also great people, a privilege to have known them.
Some proper SP legends there. Norman and Ernie are so strong, they could've left the Forty on the Branch, and pulled that train by themselves!
