The World's oldest rotary extant, built in 1869 for the Liverpool Daily Post and Echo. But from 1884 the Wigan press is reckoned to have run over 100 million Observers during its 96 years of working life in the old cellar at Rowbottom Square, until 1966. Malc Dawson changing a reel of paper and on the left is Cyril Goodman. (Inset) a broadsheet Wigan Observer which had a 25 inch cutoff and 11-em columns with pica rules...a real arm-stretch.
