Don't know much about trains but this is taken from a collection of slides I got from a House Clearance There were hundreds of slides of trains and buses I'll be putting them on the site in the future, when I can determine which ones relate to the Wigan Area.

Looks like it was taken around 1964-66 when the housing estate on the right was being built

So the photo was taken from cemetery bridge? I'd guess later also the houses look established.

Must be around mid seventies. the Tamping and Lining machine in the background is an 07-16 or 07-32 in fact I could be operating it and we didn't get those machines until 1972 or1973.

The picture is taken from Spencer Road adjacent to the bridge. I'd place it firmly in the 1980's.

The line was electrified in 1973-4, so it's got to be around the 70s.
