Such lovely memories of my Dad - he was a goods guard based at Springs Branch. he died in 1976. he loved his job and was so happy doing it.
Yep I was on this one too. Front window possibly. 86254 down from Oxenholme just to get prime position when the 40 came on at Preston. I still recall the hellfire departure from Preston. 40126 up the North Wales coast the following day. 14 years old and just one month into my all too brief (but intense) 40 bashing career. Sheer magic.
I use to secondman 1M22 from Wigan to Lime Street, always drew a good crowd
