hi MarkJohn Wimsey a true gentleman a pleasure to work for what date did he die? happy memories
Hello Alec' hope you are keeping well and in good health. I,m coming up 60 next year. Now working for Siemens as a Senior Design Engineer. Remember those days with fondness. Still see Alf (He's never changed) Sorry to hear about John He intervied me for my job. Do you hear from any of the other lad's?
Malcolm
I worked at Gullicks from late 1970 - 1973. Johhny Whimsey became a good friend of mine along with his wife Elsie w ewould all go out for drinks in the now Lychgate Standish. I started in the home dept then transferred to export as a clerk typist. He once brought me back a coal miner figurine from PA which I still treasure to this day. Another chap I met after 40 years was Tom Holcroft in the Brocket he worked in the home dept does anyone remember him. Bert Stockley hired me.
John Wimsey was one of the people who interviewed me for the Service Engineers job back in 1984. The other people on the panel were John Stephenson (Senior Service Engineer) and Tom Robinson (District Manager). John used to send me a christmas card every year, and after he died, his wife carried on. John was always there for a bit of fatherly advice if I needed it. Alec Pratt is another gentleman, he looked after us when we were changing bases on the face at Seafield during their annual shutdown. I seem to remember he used to breed budgies or similar ?
Thanks again Malcolm for keeping in touch, via Jimmy Cornwall
(Scottish Service Eng,)regarding the passing of Alec Pratt.RIP
Alex was not only a excellent working colleague but a very
dear friend, Happy Memory's. Alf
