Is this Water Heyes Electrical Works?
Yes, it's the building that used to occupy the land behind Wigan Little Theatre.
They used to make light fittings for industry and mining from what I can remember, and probably other gear also.
Specialised in flameproof underground equipment, lighting, signalling, etc.
My Gran ran the canteen at WaterHeys till the day it shut she was Margerat Arrowsmith now disceased at the age of 95
Hello. I am the sone of Robert Redmond and Marjorie (nee Heyes), grandson of Vincent Heyes.
Anyone remember them?
Hi my dad worked at water heyes is name is brian fairhurst he was a toolmaker.
I worked there my father in law was liam logue he worked there as well anyone remember him when I started there I worked with billy tudor what a great bloke he was
I joined Heyes in March 1969 as a sales rep eventually sales manage until the take over by BICC Prescott, some of the best people I ever worked with anybody from the sales department still with us.
I worked at Water Heyes in the toolroom with Brian Fairhurst, very fond memories he was a top bloke. I remover people like Des Statter and Alan Perkins to name but a few.
Worked out of Prescot in the eighties representing Scotland and the NE of England. Unfortunately, the Marketing manager had his eye on the Sales manager's position and eventually prevailed - eventually causing it to slip down as he had no idea about selling! Anyone out there from the old team? Roger Burgin maybe?
