This is a Letter to employees about King and Queens visit to the walkers factory in 1945. this letter was sent to my Grandad James dean who worked there for 45 years.

It doesn't mention the Pricesses Elizabeth & Margaret accompanying them. we kids (from Sacred Heart Springfied) wer positioned outside the Cleansing Dept Stables, on Frog Lane, givin' 'em a wave

Hello Colin; I was present that day and have a lasting impression of King George`s face being covered with make-up!
Don`t remember receiving a copy of this letter. I feel sure that I would have kept it.
Art, it doesn`t mention the two princesses because they weren`t there!

I was there that day with my dad Peter who worked in the wages office.RememberI think mostly all the gold braid on the King’s sleeves of his Admirals uniform.Perhaps that’s why I ended up doing 24 yrs in the Royal Navy
