Foden FG6 eight-wheel rigid, powered by Gardner 6LW 120 engine or Foden two-stroke. Foden truck were Built in Sandbach, Cheshire. Thanks for posting Eddie.
Driving this truck, would have sorted the men out from the boys!

Foden S18 model rugged looking truck of the 1950s,Brs at
Hindley used run this type with two stroke engines and 12
speed gearboxes in on trunk to Leeds ,The engines sounded
great pulling hard up Castle Hill,in the 1950s you could
still hear them all the way to Westhoughton Good trucks D.C.

Forden fg range slow only 35 mph flat out, very hard steering and poor brakes, but every wagon at that time were a strugle to drive.

I wonder if the stopping distance was 4ft 2ins back then as it seems to be on the motorways these days.
