i wont waste time on small talk because small talk wont cut it when it comes to this picture. Great photo Mick. It would be great to see pics of the start of this working,Gathurst/Robrite I believe, if anyone has any? I've looked everywhere no joy! Anyone remember the viaduct across the River Douglas and canal that linked the works to the small goods yard at Gathurst? I think it was there to the late 70's

I was a train spotter in the early 1970's! We knew these engines as 'Big D's' Similar on the eastern railways as 'Type 3's'. May sound daft, but what is the difference. I remember type 3's having a larger front? Am I right?
Cullie is right; being at the Deanery in its early days they shook the classrooms....Grrrrrr!!!!!

tony g is it not class 37's your thinking of? they themself were mini monsters. i too went to deanery school when the class 40's were not short of being withdrawn. it was the same then back in the day when a class 40 came past the world erupted happy days indeed ggggggrrrrrrrrrrrr.
