St Joseph's and St Thomas' churches, 'end-to-end' - and Westwood Power Station. What a grrrreat scene.

St Thomas's and Westwood are long since gone, St Joseph's still standing though sadly now unused, looks like a Lowry painting.

Do You mean the building with the Triumph Herald parked at the front/corner Garry?

Comment by: roland middleton on 16th November 2012 at 15:51

I don't think that is ledsons, I think around that time they were lower down wallgate near northern sailmakers?

Comment by: Garry on 16th November 2012 at 16:03

Yes Peter.

The building with the Triumph parked outside was Martindale Samoore, I think they were pharmaceuticals stockists. The building did change ownership several times though.

Didn't that building become WH Smith wholesale newspaper distribution centre?

The newer building on the right still stands. I think it belonged to Debenhams for a time and then became a furniture manufacturer.

Comment by: Nev on 17th November 2012 at 10:37

Correct, Stuart. W H Smith wholesalers were there for quite a few years,in the building with the pitched roof to the left of the Triumph.
