my Dad, a goods guard based here took me to the canteen here for my first postwar ice cream. Lovely!

maggie, my brother, Colin Griffiths, used to take ME in that canteen, too, as a little girl in the late 1950s, when he went to collect his wages.

50 of these Class 50 Diesel Electrics were produced by Vulcan Foundry at Newton Le Willows! After the Overhead lines were powered up they were all transferred to the Western Region of the then BR by 1975, they were not welcome there as they were used to replace the WR's own niche Diesel Hydraulics.
