There are only two main ones you need to know James: The 'stop' signal at which the train driver must stop when it is in the 'danger' or horizontal position; the 'distant' or warning signal which is located a long way back before the 'stop' siganal, to indicate to the train driver, the 'stop' signal's position. Stop signal has square ended arm and is red with a white band across it. The end of a Distant or warning signal is a fish-tail shape and coloured yellow with a black band across it, to match the fish-tail shape. It gets more complicated when there are multiple signals on gantries at junctions.
