Probably Euston Glasgow stopper; departing Wigan Northwestern Station and approaching No.2 box. Signal-man Dougie Doughty at the window, he travelled to and from Ditton every shift in a three wheeled Reliant, hail, rain, snow or blow ( dedicated, and fun to work with).

I was in this box along with other boxes and station offices etc., when training. I started when 17 (1960), passed out for class 4 signal-man at 19 (1962), my first box was Whelley Jct., the signal-men I worked with at No.2 were: At the window, Douglas Doughty. Tony Cook, Len Dawber, Sid Preston,Tommy Tickle, Jimmy Sumner,Jack Perkins,Jack Silcock, Harold Murray, Ronnie Bentley, I could have missed some, there were some trainees like myself they were: Brian Johnson(Golborne),John Wright. Thank You again Susan, I have quite a few more, but they are a mixed bag, positives are okay, the negative and transparency ones will take the longest to scan.

Two more signal-men that worked at this box: Harry Gregory, Hughy Mason(lived in Platt Bridge area), both relief signal-men.

It did back onto Great George St. Graham (see pics.), I finished at No.2 late in the year of 1962 when I passed out and got Whelley Jct.,but I met a lot of signalmen when I was training by working in different signal-boxes and stations in the area.
