The trencherbone is a member of the Wigan series, often named the Wigan six feet (or even 9 feet). The seam section gives a thickness at Golborne of 3 - 4 feet. The shells in the mudstone roof are called "Carbonicola Oslancis" and are found in the roof of the Trencherbone right across the Coalfield.
