This man is my husband's great, great uncle (according to our family tree). He looks just like my husband's brother, Alan. My husband's father, grandfather, g/grandfather & g/g/grandfather, were all blacksmiths also.

When I worked in a garden centre about 1970 we used to sell spades and other tools made at Clarington Forge.

Helen John was my great grandfether. From our research he had a brother Peter, his son John Peter, my grandfather was probably named after him and in turn my son Peter, named after my grandfather.I am in the process of submitting a further photo of John with his two grandsons C 1923

Peter (born 1832) was my husband's g/grandfather, and John's brother. He was a blacksmith. Their father, Robert, was also a blacksmith, and according to my research on Ancestry UK, their grandfather Thomas worked on the canals as a boatman prior to his death in 1845. We would be interested in seeing other photos, as John's resemblance to hubby's brother is amazing (even down to the beard).
