John Dakeyne (Mr John) spent the afternoon with former colleagues and work mates at the Boar's Head pub in 2003. Rowbottom Square and Woods Street was the talk of the day, with many of these gent spending all their working life at the Wigan Observer. It was one big happy family.
John Dakeyne is seen 12th from the left with some of his staff. Sadly, John died in June 2011, age 88. (He was a great man)

Steve Hooley 5th from the left, we won many awards with the help of this man and others, who are sadly no longer with us.
