Wigan Album

This is my Grandpa John Hewitt, known to all as Jack. He started as a point boy for Wigan Corporation Transport changing the points for the trams at the top of Wallgate according to their destination. He qualified as a tram driver on the very day Wigan Corporation Transport announced they would replace trams with buses. He transferred to buses - generally on the route to Wrightington - and continued until he retired in 1968. This photo was taken at Dangerous Corner. Sadly Jack died in 1982. The next picture I post will be one of his cap badge.
