The old Victory-Kidder press thunders away in the cellar, printing that weeks edition of the 16 page Wigan Observer. (left) Cliff Roper, Dave Taylor and Malc Dawson. I'm not sure who the gent facing the camera is?

This press had originally printed the Liverpool Daily Post, and was bought by the Observer around 1880. It produced its last edition in January 1966. Part of this unique machine is preserved in the Science Museum in Londin, thanks to the efforts of Colin Harlow, whose father and grandfather worked on "old faithful."
