Looks like Blackrod near the church. The buses destination also reads Blackrod which was the number 17 route.
looks like Chorley new road in Horwich
This photo is already on the site. Yes it is Chorley New Road
You're bang on Gerry, as soon as I saw your comment I knew where you meant, it's the corner of Chorley New road and Stephenson Street, the corner shop that the bus is facing seems to be called Nightingale, it's now Rowlands Pharmacy, which faces Kildonan House surgery

This is Chorley New Road Horwich the buses were alloud to take and drop off and workers from Horwich Loco Works this was the route of Bolton Corporation, so you had to pay extra on top of the normal ticket to the Crown this was 1d in old money a propotion of this fare was payed to Bolton Corporation for allowing this service I did this for for many years getting on the bus at Blackrod
Did this run for all of 20yrs from 1957 worked in the erecting and boiler shop ,is this accident anywhere near mason st. And the old cinema

I think this bus was empty at the time going from the Crown to the works, it was going to pick up workers round about 5pm the buses run until 1969 when I left Horwich Loco. There were 3 buses 2 went to Wigan via Aspull and 1 went through Blackrod to Wigan via Haigh.
