A group of Mill Girls leave the factory at the end of their shift, in the 1950's.

A brilliant photo of a bygone age, Ron. It reminds me of the Gracie Fields film, "Sing As We Go". And note the two young lads, and how they're dressed.....one in a waistcoat. No jeans, trainers etc. like now.

Friday neet: home for a chippy tea, then bath, changed, and down Wiggin...Nowt's changed: only the jobs for the girls...No mills anymore. Sad...

Both my parents worked in the mill in the 40's my mother was Lillian (lili) Green and dad Alec Farrimond does anyone remember them, dad stated one that he carried the heavy bales that was so wet at times they were very heavy, and mother was a carder. I was born in 1948 and some time later moved from Pemberton to nu.12 Caroline St before I started school at St Thomas's
