Lovely old bus pics. Went under Wallgate Railway Bridge twice a day on school days for a couple of years....school was in Ormskirk.
Ron would just like to thank you for all the uploaded photo's of the buses well its not the buses I like lol, its all diferent places they was taken that brings back such good memories, Thanks again
Hi Dougie, as you say it isn't all about the buses, although I'm sure they bring back a lot of memories for a lot of people, it's the street scenes which are interesting. I remember when the kids were young, and we would go to Swanage for our summer holidays for two weeks. As we came off the motorway at junction 25 i.e. Marus Bridge, Invariably we would see a Corporation bus as we drove down the slip road We knew then we were back home,
Ron. I had the very same feelings, when I came home on leave, whilst in the forces in the 50s. When I got off the train at N.W. Rly Station, and saw a Wigan Corporation bus. I knew I was home. I suspect a lot of Wigan servicemen felt the same way. They stood out as something special, relating to WIGAN.
A rider to the above. I even keep a model of a Wigan Corporation bus. Whether or not it has the correct number on it, I do not know. It is No 34. Destination " Ince Bar, 3". No reg no is shown.
Found a picture of bus No34.( WORK) Item:#866. In category 2. WIGAN CORPORATION TRANSPORT. The model is the same as the actual bus,and the reg no is J.P.6032
