Is that taken on Park Road/Parson's Walk?
Looks like it's taken at the top of Spencer Road. It would appear this was the favoured spot for taking photos of buses etc.
Ron/Dustaf. Looks to me like Monument Road, off Wigan Lane and on the other side of the road from what was Northern Counties bus body works.
Would this be one of the first Wigan Corporation double deckers with a central gangway on the top deck, as opposed to the side gangway on earlier models? 1951 sounds about right for the introduction of the central gangway model, if my memory serves me right.
I was thinking it had a look of Parson's Walk near the entrance road to the cricket club. But there is obviously a more substantial street/road visible at the side of the house.
i'm thinking could it be a one way street for it to be on that side of the road.
It's the top of Spencer Road near to where it joins Mesnes Road.
Yes, that would explain why it's on the wrong side of the road. Wish this type of bus would return. Always handy for a last minute dash!
You would not wish them back if you were the conductor. Cold, draughty, wet and can be dangerous. Imagine in today's age of gods and idiots what daft things would be tried on that open platform. As an ex-conductor it gives the shivers
