Do you know which face it was and what year Fred ?

Comment by: fred foster on 4th April 2011 at 14:38

The year was 1982,Cale Melling was overman for John Connaughton in the mid area, so the face would have been in the Ince mine, probably S100 or so.

It's definitely Cale Melling. The photo was given to me by Thelma Wormwell, Jim's widow, and was captioned before I cropped it. I also worked with Cale for a number of years on L19

Can remember Cale Melling being put on night shift by Geoff Mottram when he was B section overman, he went on the club and never went down the pit again.
