In those days you were paid with cash in a pay packet,at the end of your pay slip was a detachable ticket which you handed in the week after to receive that weeks pay. If you didn't have this ticket you couldn't get your wages unless you filled a form in at the wages office window which was through that door on the far left. You had to tell them your national insurance number to get this form, after several years I could remember this nine digit number easily as I forgot my ticket so many times.
