great photo, note the lady with curlers in and also wearing slippers at work.
The first person on front row right was my Dad, Les Jones. Great to see, thanks so much for posting this. Any idea of the year Allan?
hi ian the date would be around 1974/75
Been thinking of when my dad worked there and I think its more like 1968?
ian did you live in hampden close and used to have a motorbike.
my grandma annie hill, tallest lady back row centre
Yea Stephen, thats me.
I think my mum Irene Kay is on the back row!
My Dad, Charlie was a manager there and my Unlce Jimmy was a maintenance engineer. Dad would take me with him when they did stock taking on a Saturday morning...maybe once a month. It was quiet and mostly deserted in contrast to the noise and congestion that would have been the norm on working days. The only person there apart from my Dad and Uncle was a guy who operated the huge scales. He would weigh me every time! I confess I rifled the lockers for all the PG Tips playing cards. I would tie rags to the handles of a sack truck and use it as a trolley. Superb on the long polished wooden floors, and I would climb the insides of the liftshafts. Can still hear Uncle Jimmy's voice echoing angryly from below.
