this takes me back a bit. i remember all these faces from when i worked there in 1969-1971
The Tupperware management would find their way down to the Wellfield Hotel, Beech Hill, after work on occasions, for a "bonding" session as I think the Americans termed it (team games were played), or booze up, as we would term it. Whisky was the order of the day (no drink drive laws then) and a full term out was guaranteed when it was known the "main man", who I only knew by his surname, Tucker, (an Australian), would be present. Sadly I don't recognise anyone from these photos but my memory is of the late 1950's into the early 1960's. Some of the sessions lasted long into the evening and much hard liquor was consumed - thankfully I never heard of any car accidents as a result. At the time I was the teenage son of the landlord.
Georgie Morris an Ince lad, last seen on Sutcliffes tripe stall in the market hall. Been told he is poorly at this time.
thats my dad george morris and very proud of him,i am.
Tupperware was my dads life, he was finished very abruptly and betrayed by colleagues he believed to be friends!!
he was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimers 2 years ago.He is currently doing well and I know he'll be delighted when i show him these pictures. if anyone would like to get in touch with my dad, drop me an email.
Although I don't really know your Dad Nicola, I often used to chat with him when buying at his stall.
A real gentleman, and I am truly sorry to hear of his health problems.

Pat Speakman, your father Syd Buckley. Did he work with the troublshooters in the moulding romm??
Re Keith's comments in 2010 - the George he is referring to is George Tucker, and Australian who served in the RAF during the war. He later went back to Australia to establish a Tupperware factory in Melbourne. He arranged jobs for my parents who emigrated from the UK in 1962
George Tucker was an Australian and in the RAF during WW2. He flew lots of times on the Berlin airlift and he had some good stories to tell. A hard as nails boss but was not unkind.
Comments by Ken R, 12th March 2012 Hi yes my dad was a troble shooter then he worked in the stores, sadly no longer with us. amazing to read these comments. george tucker was my mum's cousin.he was actually a Scot, born in edinburgh, worked around the world with tupperware.and eventually returned to his native land, lived with his wife Betty near st andrews. always a character! much loved by us all, we enjoyed his colourful language and humour. he was orphaned by age of 15 and so had a special bond with his cousins
Sorry to hear that George Morris has been so ill. I remember him very well and he took over from me in the warehouse after I left the company. Please give him my best wishes.
Does anyone fancy a reunion I will try and organise
Georgie Tucker was my Mums cousin, he was born in Edinburgh and later his parents emigrated to Australia, sadly his father died in an accident and after that George and his mum came back to Edinburgh, his mum was ill and died when he was about 16.. He went into the RAF and visited his aunty and cousins in North London during the war and after a few years reappeared on our doorstep, married and very successful at tupperware. After various periods living in Australia, USA and South Africa he and his wife eventually settled in a village near to St Andrews enabling him to drink whiskey and play golf. A very happy time in his life. Both of them have gone now but to our family he was an icon of daring, humour and originality, much missed.
It was quite a thing at the time for a well known brand to come to Wigan. TupperWare parties all the rage.
Perhaps a sign of the time though as not many if any women in senior management, just the production lines.
I don’t even know if the brand even exists anymore, designs easily copied and putout at a fraction of the price using cheap labour in China no doubt. But who can really blame them, not the consumers.
