This photo was taken on 1908 day after Maypole disaster
the miner was one of the few survivors. See book on the Maypole didaster.

I'm looking for more information regarding Richard Fairhurst one of the survivor of the Maypole pit disaster also his wife and his child names. I'm the great grandson of Richard

Anthony there are other comments regarding this on another part, I don't know anything regarding Richard, but on the anniversary we took part in the walk from the pit to abram cemetery. Out of all the hundreds there we found ourselves stood next to relatives of Richard and Edward. So there are others around. One was an ex teacher from St pats. Her name was brown. Not sure if she's married now? and her name may be Bennett? Billy Doran was my ex husbands grandad, but he is buried under the name of Catterall in gidlow cemetery along with his son William and daughter in law Edith. His father William Doran is in ince cemetery. His grandson Albert Catterall is buried across with his mother.
