my sister pat worked there in sixties,and i got my 22 crt gold wedding ring from there, the princely sum of £22.

Is this the shop that was Weirs next to Burtons on Standish gate? We bought an engagement ring from Pat in 1971 she were sworn to secrecy until the big announcement to our mums and dads..

no gerry, this shop was in makinsons arcade and still is but not stonefields anymore past paper shop same side still a jewellers.pat did work at wiers in 70s.

Ah yes I remember it now !! I saw it last week in the Makinson arcade. The skirts in picture are a lot longer than the ones you wore Josie. I know cos your dad always brought my attention to them.... I didn't know where to look ............ (I did really)

i know gerry,i would be bending over to pull my boots on and my dad would allways say ur not bloody goin out with that on, we always did though.

pat beckett worked here before me with a girl called ann dobson. they were so lovely to work with .also there was mr.taylor and our boss was mr. vernon

Interesting history to the shop and the very stylish mini's.

I have just bought second hand a "Stonefield Wigan" watch. It has the name of the jewellers and the town on the watch face, so I guess it came from that shop. Still working as well!
