Thanks for that picture. My Dad worked there until it closed and it is the first photograph I have seen of down the pit. We used to meet him every Friday and he would bring a custard from the canteen.

I worked there until it closed.
Underground fitter No 1 Pit.
My dad, Eric Williams, worked at the Maypole so its nice to see a pic from that era.

did you know my dad Harry Fishwick who was a deputy and went to Parsonage when Maypole shut
