This selection of pics from Parkside were given to me by Thelma Wormwell, widow of Jim, the former deputy manager who met with a horrific accident on his way to work one morning. His car was struck by the blade of a loading shovel as he passed Bold Colliery, and his head severely damaged. He recovered but it finished his career in management. Jim died a few years later.
funny, i thought jc was 7ft tall when i look back!!!! he couldnt half shout tho!!! remember how the jungle drums were buzzing when he was on his way in and god help you if you were sat down even if you were makeing a cable end off, he bollocked me twice in a day once, for not being at the top end when the face was shoving over, checking the cables and then for being at the top end when it was shoving over saying i should have been checking the cables at the bottom end! i had to hold the phone about 2ft from my ear . other people must have some good stories about him??he put the fear of god in everybody
I know that he isn't on this pic, but Ron Silver, the Personnel manager died last week and is being buried on Friday 2nd July at Christ Church Haydock
