The girl 3rd from left on the back row is Hilda Beddard, the teacher is Miss Simm.

Have you ever noticed on these old school photographs that nobody smiles or 'shows their teeth'? Which, and also thinking of passport photos, gives a more true likeness dont you think?

Ron, I think that the Simm that you knew was Mrs Simm. She was origially Miss Causey and married when I was at school. She died last year aged 92. The Miss Simm in the picture was an old lady when I was there in 1938.

Fred, you seem to go back a long time at Highfield. When were you there? For my part,I was there from about 1949 to 1955 when I went off to WGS.

Allan, I can't contact your email, but I was at highfield from 1935-42 when I too went to WGS. If you look on "stuff" you will find my childhood memories and highfield features quite a lot, also the Grammar School

Fred, was the girl not Annie Beddard, of Bold St then Bramble Grove, who married George Pilkington during the war ?
