Part copy of the order of service of a remembrance service for those former Wigan Grammar School boys who lost their lives in the 2nd World War. John (aka Jack) Ball Fairhurst (1916-1942) was my uncle and attended Wigan Grammar School until about 1930 when his family 'emigrated' to Blackpool. He was killed at the Battle of Alamein on 2nd November 1942.

Can anyone tell me where the memorial might be now?

I am pleased to report John, that the original memorial is in good condition and hanging in the Linacre Clinic, near the entrance - or, to any old boys, outside the gym where it can be viewed at your leisure.
Alfred Ronald Gaskell (middle of left column) was my cousin, once removed and died flying his Boston bomber over Italy in 1943. His nephew, Michael Gaskell still lives in Wigan.
