The boys seem to be wearing their very best clothes for the photo.It must have been an exciting event for them.The teachers look a bit scary.

Im sure ive seen a ghost of the techer on the left
My Nana's father, Aaron Heaton, was one of 12 boys, all of which attended Pemberton Colliery/Highfield back in 1880s/90s. My Nana, Doris Heaton, will be 96 in February and is certain several of these lads are her uncles and 1 of them is her father. (front row bottom right 3 boys) 1 or two lads in the middle row and the big lad in the back row middle...and she certainly recalls Mr.George Millard (teacher back row left) a very strict and domineering man.
