Great picture. My mum lives on the site of the former Whitley High School - which was redeveloped as a huge housing estate in the early 1990s by McClean Homes and Riversmede Homes.

The wooded area beyond the tennis courts is still there to this day and is known as Scouts Hill. From the angle of the camera I suspect it is now where Willow Tree Close is and some of Hazelwood Road.

There is still a small playing field separating the houses from the perimeter to the West Coast mainline where there is a children's play area.

I used to walk across the playing fields from my house to play on Scouts Hill. There were no trees there then and it made an excellent cycle track. The dare was to ride off the top down the steepest side without falling off! There was a smaller hill on the other side of the railway called Cubs Hill
